A RM500,000 GenPage web portal….. for Web Cage?

Just can’t help taking a swipe at MSIG’s recent launch of their RM500,000 GenPage website portal. OMG! Is this some exorbitant show or what! In the days of open source, cloud computing and free templates for website building, why is there a need to create website portal to cage up a group of agency websites?




The contents are stale and can-liked, no eCommerce and url is too lengthy for SEO



Did I said, “cage” or was it “house”? Ummm… not sure now, looks like cage to me if you were to take a closer look at the contents of this site. The contents are more than 90% propaganda stuff, except for some quotation features, there are no eCommerce facilities. If there are no eCommerce features and with the contents being those of standard protocol stuff, I really can’t see how this project can be of help to the agents.

Moreover, the agent would have a mouthful telling his clients, “please access my site at http://partner.msig.com.my/tkf/index.dot“…. hello! can I borrow a pen and paper, please!



No wonder agent is prepared to spend to get their own website running.

Anyway…… it is still something lah! if we do not look at the money spent…. HALF point for trying to be creative with the cyber distribution channel.

    If no money to build own website, then rely on available templates on the web, but if also no time, then no choice lah! Use MSIG cage also okay lah!

    I was actually shocked to learn about this too. And feel it would be a strong topic for me to share on my blog later.

    The question on my mind now is very similar to yours; why.

      Yes, agent would be better off building their own website, better still blogsite to market their stuff – create a one stop financial ecommerce blog and website that can be linked to many insurers and not cage up. Thus not necessary sell a single insurer’s range of product but also products from other insurers. BTW when is the insurance industry opening up for independent insurance agency?
