ANIKA Insurance Broker celebrated its 40th anniversary on the 2nd October 2009. Although a home brewed broking outfit, Anika is standing neck to neck with the international boys, and this is one way of saying, “Malaysia Boleh”! The company is also licensed as a Takaful Broker under the Takaful Act, 1984 and is a member of the Worldwide Broker Network (WBN). This big DO was held in Hotel Equatorial and its setting was good as people moved and mixed around well. Congratulation….
Anika now writes about RM100 million of annual gross premium which is even larger than some of the smaller insurers in town. Since 2008, Vicky Rajaratnam has taken over the helm of the corporation as CEO from Mr. Chong Ping Leong.
Having served the company for more than 30 years, Mr. Chong is now an appointed director of the company and certainly have more time for golf… it hard to win his money nowadays!
Vicky, name synonymous with Maxis and man of the moment is surely soft spoken… Vicky! I cannot hear you but I am not complaining as I am having a good time with my Johnny Walker green label! Perhaps also it was one way to celebrate meeting many old friends again. Friends whom I met and work associated with in the “Land below the Wind” had somehow gathered (not by designs) right in the middle of this special day!
So what is Yew Sing check his pocket for? Lots of loose change ans worrying that they will drop off to check out what I am offering him? Nevermind, I gulp down this sausage because I was too hungry. Then out came this pretty lady holding some balloons… I thought was some lucky draw; no it is not…. must be the mascot for the night!
While catching up, I do notice competitors grouped together to figure out how has the others being doing… either bragging of their successes so far or were they actually finding ways to par down competition among themselves – market is stagnating nowadays!
Snapping those photos under dim condition with the Nokia N77 is a daunting task despite it has a flash that can blind you looking into its lens. Nokia should look at these photos, they are just not turning out nicely – not helping with this blog – neither helping Anika with this reporting!
They said…. with very good review lol and four stars rating! However, it performed badly in dim lights despite those flash that so flashy lah! Perhaps Nokio can lend me some of the better camera phone to use especially for such a memorable function…. 🙄
Okay lah! I am not trying to promote Nokia N77 but hopefully the management reads my blog and they lend me their newer version (at least the Nokio 5800) phone for one year and I go around all the insurance cocktails, banquets and “All free flow drinking” functions and blog about them! At least photos look better than those above! By the way I hope I can be invited to all available functions otherwise no use having the Nokio latest version phone.
You know… ah, this function I go, I am only replacement lol! Otherwise would not be here even showing them this new Nokio 5800 with Xpress Music cannot get me into the ballroom.
By the way, Edward Lee told me that this green label Johnny Walker is good stuff and we must enjoy it instead of beer… Anyway he is a whisky man but I have heard about black, gold, blue and red labels but not this green label! Pardon me….. There is indeed this green label stuff. Despite my ignorance of this green thing, I drank and it is good and they gushed through my throat down to my tummy just like this and I was floating!
Before I forgot, I guessed I just want to rub abit of comment on Anika’s keris liked image….. I am not sure this is their new corporate logo and brand but did look prominent! Good wishes and all for many many years to come….. And don’t forget about me come another round of celebration!
